ISIS is an international terrorist organization based in the Middle East. Their origins are primarily evolved from Al Qaeda. In the year of 2004, Al Qaeda in Iraq eventually separated into two groups: Al Qaeda and ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant). Two years later, ISIL formed their own terrorist organization known as ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). From then onward, their main goal was to expand their territory and seize more land. By expanding their territory, they are gaining power. These random power is whats driving ISIS to be so successful. ISIS also puts governing structures in place to rule the territories it conquers once the dust settles on the battlefield. From the cabinet and the governors to the financial and legislative bodies, ISIS' bureaucratic hierarchy looks a lot like those of some of the Western countries whose values it rejects -- if you take away the democracy and add in a council to consider who should be beheaded. Oil is another factor that makes ISIS so successful. Some of its territories include oil fields. In the year of 2015, an oil expert in Saudi Arabia reported that ISIS makes about approximately 3 million dollars on oil every day. These oil are usually sold in black markets where selling the objects can be illegal. But it has been reported in 2016, that ISIS has lost 12% of its territory. So does that mean they are less brutal. Definitely not. ISIS, outside their territory they control in the Middle East, have been encouraging terrorism across the world. Their social media and brutal videos have captured public attention as well as successfully attracted people into their organization. Many people who leave their country to fight for ISIS have reported to have been guilty of their country. One of the major things ISIS misleads information about is their status. ISIS assume they are fighting for their religion, but actually, they are basically trying to obtain land. So big question, what can countries do as a whole to stop ISIS?
